The use of genetic variation to infer the evolutionary history of organisms is a fundamental topic in phylogeny, phylogeography, and population genetics. Among organisms, insects are considered to be an exceptionally large and diverse group in the world. Consequently, studying the evolutionary history of insects will sufficiently contribute to our understanding of the diversity of life. Therefore, our laboratory focuses on phylogeny, genetic diversity, and genetic differentiation in drosophilids and other insects.
