ショウジョウバエ科の分子系統学研究
ショウジョウバエ科のハエはこれまでに4000種以上が知られており、極地を除く世界各地に広く分布しています。これらの系統関係については古くから注目され、これまで数多くの研究が報告されていますが、未だに不明な点が残されています。当研究室は、ショウジョウバエ科系統樹の決定版を提示することを目標に、これまであまり焦点があてられなかった種の系統関係を解明する研究を行っています。また、ショウジョウバエは、その食性も、果実食、草本食、あるいはキノコ食と多岐にわたり、さらには野外での行動、季節消長、および微小環境の選好性といった特性も種によって大きく異なります。このような野生ショウジョウバエが持つ形質の多様性に注目し、得られた系統樹を基盤に、地理的移動分散の歴史あるいは形質の進化過程を解明する研究を行っています。
